Umbrella Tree,
Schefflera arboricolaPLANT CARE GUIDE
Placement
The Umbrella Tree will do well in a room that gets a medium amount of natural light. Bright, sunny, or overly warm windows should be avoided.
Light Requirements
The Umbrella Tree prefers bright, indirect light. She can tolerate low to medium light but will grow more slowly.
Watering Needs
The Umbrella Tree is more tolerant of dry soil than overwatering. Water when the top several inches of soil are dry. When watering, water the plant with fresh water lightly and slowly from above, then tip out any excess water. Avoid splashing the leaves when watering to prevent discoloration.
Temperature Preferences
Does well at room temperature between 60°F - 77°F. Cold temperatures should be avoided.
Humidity Tolerance
Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 75% or above. If the air around the plant is too dry, use a humidifier or occasionally mist the plant to increase humidity.
Repotting Needs
The plant can live happily in the provided pot for up to a year. Check if the plant is ready to be repotted by touching the soil and seeing if it has become loose, or if the roots have become overgrown. Use a rich, well-draining potting soil. Repot every 1-2 years in the Spring. When your plant is ready to be repotted, you can follow our simple how-to guide.
Unhealthy Plant Signs
Yellowing leaves may be a sign of underwatering. Spotted leaves means the plant needs more water.
Toxicity
If ingested, may cause a harmful reaction in people and pets.
