Snake Plant,
Sansevieria zeylanicaPLANT CARE GUIDE
Placement
The Snake Plant is one of the easiest plants to care for. She will do well in just about any room. Place her next to a bright sunny window or even in a dimly lit office where she'll only receive small amounts of fluorescent light. Rotate the plant occasionally to encourage even growth.
Light Requirements
The Snake Plant will thrive in bright to moderate, indirect light but will be perfectly fine in extremely low levels of light as well.
Watering Needs
Water when the top 2 or 3 inches of the soil is completely dry—watering every two or three weeks, is usually adequate. During the colder months, water sparingly—only when the leaves begin to look slightly wilted, or about once a month.
Temperature Preferences
Does well at room temperature between 60°F - 77°F. Cold temperatures should be avoided.
Humidity Tolerance
Tolerates lower levels of humidity, around 30-35%.
Repotting Needs
The plant can live happily in the provided pot for up to 2 years. Check if the plant is ready to be repotted by touching the soil and seeing if it has become loose, or if the roots have become overgrown. Repot using a rich, well-draining soil or succulent potting mix. Snake Plants generally only need to be repotted every 3-5 years. When your plant is ready to be repotted, you can follow our simple how-to guide.
Unhealthy Plant Signs
Falling or drooping leaves may be a sign of overwatering.
Toxicity
If ingested, may cause a harmful reaction in people and pets.
