Placement
The Aglaonema is one of the most durable houseplants and is fairly adaptable. She will do well in a room that gets a medium amount of natural light, placed within 5 feet of a window. Bright, sunny, or overly warm windows should be avoided. Rotate the plant occasionally to encourage even growth.
Light Requirements
The Aglaonema will do well in in medium to low light conditions, or indirect sunlight. She can even tolerate fluorescent lighting conditions. Direct, bright sunlight should be avoided as it can scorch the leaves.
Watering Needs
The Aglaonema can tolerate less water than most other houseplants. Water the plant when the top 1-2 inches of soil are dry. When watering, water the plant moderately and slowly from above, allowing water to soak through to the roots, then tip out any excess water. Reduce watering during the cold season. Clean the leaves occasionally by wiping them down with a soft, damp cloth.
Temperature Preferences
Does well at room temperature between 60°F - 77°F. Cold temperatures should be avoided and keep the plant away from drafts.
Humidity Tolerance
Prefers higher levels of humidity, around 75% or above. If the air around the plant is too dry, use a humidifier or occasionally mist the plant to increase humidity.
Repotting Needs
The plant can live happily in the provided pot for up to a year. Check if the plant is ready to be repotted by touching the soil and seeing if it has become loose, or if the roots have become overgrown. Repot using a rich, well-draining soil, or an equal mix of potting soil, perlite and sand.
Toxicity
If ingested, may cause a harmful reaction in pets.
